OK I'll admit this is the first time since I was probably 12 (aout the time I first started keeping a journal) that I haven't made a New Year list of resolutions. It's just that it really was just to depressing to write down one more time the dozen things I just never seem to improve on. So I came up with something totally new. I call it my 100 list. I thought I could do a 365 list but nope I really want to succeed in this venture so I made it more attainable. I plan to learn, do, read, cook make etc. etc. 100 new things before 2011. It has become very clear to me as I watch my Dad and Bryons Mom that the aging process can really be a sad thing and I'm trying to analyze the inevitable to figure out how to better prepare for it. One thing that seems to be quite common with all senior citizens is routine. It has always intrigued me how growing up and growing old are just so similar in reverse. Babies and small children love routine and repetition, its comforting. But we also know that the key ingredient to progress is change. What's that saying "insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result".So it got me thinking that instead for falling into a habitual routine I'm going to consciously resist it. Small things like when I sit down to watch TV maybe avoid doing it in the same room or the same chair. Kinda sounds silly but my thinking is I will be making a conscious choice instead of just settling comfortably to a state of "being" instead one of "becoming". I know the body's aging process is mostly the culprit. Your body wants to slow down. It has infirmities and limitations. But look at severely handicapped people and all they've been able to accomplish and suddenly those are really pretty lame excuses. I wasn't blessed with this inner drive and sense of adventure that I see in some people so this will not be an easy task. So I decided to throw down the challenge. Who would like to take the journey? Next January we can sit down with our lists and share in the sense of accomplishment.

Lhasa and Adam's Wedding!

Sidney, Candice, Elaine, Marjean and I flew to Davis Calif.
for Lhasa and Adam's Wedding on the 9th of Sept. It was a
lovely wedding....I think I can speak for loved the ceremony
all when I say it was a lovely ceremony. The Groom was so
sweet. such a gentleman, and the Bride was radiant!

When we arrived we were surprised with yummy treats and
snacks for our stay.

There was a blue grass band and lots of dancing....Robert, as you
will see in the video can really cut a rug.

The whole family was there and it was so fun to spend some
time with all of them...they made us feel soooo welcome!

It was a rather warm day, but we were provided with little umbrellas and
the evening cooled down and we all had a great time.

Mom story

I went this week to Utah for Shaleys shower. Cammi Cox, her Mother said last week she was announcing in Relief Society that Shayley was marring a boy from Mesa Arizona. A sister in the ward asked what the Mothers maiden name was and when she told her the woman got all teary eyed and told her that she grew up in the 10th ward and she remembered the day I was born because Betty Ray was her young womans leader. She went on to tell Cammi that Mom had such an impact on her that she would never forget her. Cammi was telling me this all teary eyed and of course that made me bawl. I thought oh how sweet it is that Mom left such a legacy. It was a little tender mercy for me to know that Roman's in laws had a glimpse of the good heritage he comes endowed with. Thought you'd all like to hear this story because I know I just love it when ever I hear that she is still remembered and thought of so dearly. Makes me want to step up my game and make sure I honor both Mom and Dad in all I do.
I just wanted to thank everyone that came to the shower I really appreciated having my family there.

Pioneer Days

It has been a long held family traditon to celebrate the Saints reaching the great Salt Lake Valley on July 24th in Pine Arizona. We are VERY proud of our pioneer heritage. My Great Great Great Grandfather Edmond Ellsworth was married to Elizabeth Young, Brigham Youngs eldest child. He asked Edmond to lead the first handcart company across the plains. So through the years we have put on our Pioneer finest and marched down the main street of Pine in the parade.<

Happy Birthday Baby Sister

Happy 50 Julie! Ah the memories... Poor girl had to follow behind my reputation of not being very friendly in High School.(not true I was just shy). But you should really thank me because it just made you more out going. And besides you had the use of my fabulous wardrobe. Remeber when we were the "pixies" and left little love notes and treats for Mom and Dad. You had this special little cookie you made, you took the middle out of cheap white bread rolled it into a ball popped it in your mouth and when it was nice and wet rolled it in brown sugar. Yum Yum.

Family History

The first day home visiting with Dad he fairly quickly drifted to the topic of his longevity. He wondered why he was still here, what was it he still needed to do here on earth?

When I asked him what his best guess was he said he felt like he had learned so much the last few years. It seemed he was acknowledging that the last few years weren't a waste in any way but wondered what more there was for him to accomplish still. The only thing he could think of was that he needed to finish his life history. It really weighed on him that he couldn't leave it in such disarray. He felt very pressed to complete it.

So that's what we worked on the entire week.

We certainly didn't finish it but we made some headway in sorting and thinning materials so that it wasn't overwhelming to Dad or anyone able to lend a hand to help. I thought that if there was a central clearing house for the project people could discuss what has been done, what still needs to be done and coordinate the effort so that it gets done, and not in duplicate (or 11 i cate)

I'm not sure this will be this blog site will be the best venue or whether we can up and down load files to this site. I'll find out shortly.

Its late and I'm falling asleep typing. I'll try and summarize the where we got to soon.
